White Chocolate Pretzels

These are my favorites, but until this year, I can honestly say I've never made them myself. They're SO easy. And if you already have some of the pretzels, candy and sprinkles for other projects, then why not?!

What You Need:
Pretzels
Almond Bark or Candy Melts (I prefer the white/vanilla, but chocolate would be good, too.)
Sprinkles, of course
Parchment or Waxed Paper
Fork
Optional:
Vegetable oil or shortening

Start by melting your chocolate. I add a little vegetable oil (about 1 Tbsp per 8 oz of almond bark) to help thin it out so that the pretzels don't get too thick of a coating.

Melt the candy in the microwave on low power, stirring every 30 seconds. (I use power level 3, and it takes between 3 and 4 minutes.) You always want to watch that the candy melts don't get hot. They should just be warm. As soon as they're melted, they're ready.

To dip the pretzel, drop one at a time into the chocolate.

Use the fork to cover it with candy.

Fish the pretzel out with the fork, then tap the fork gently against the top of the mug or bowl to remove the excess candy.

Gently put the pretzel on parchment or waxed paper to set.

If you're going to apply sprinkles-- this is where the kids can really help-- place the paper inside a rimmed baking sheet to allow the pretzels to set and the sprinkles to remain off of the floor as much as possible. Then, you want to apply the sprinkles immediately, while the candy is still wet.

When the candy is set, store the pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature. These last a while without being refrigerated or frozen, so they're an easy treat to give for gifts, as well.

*Note: You could always use real chocolate, just be sure that you temper the chocolate first.
